What is Electrospray?
Electrospray occurs when a suitable fluid is exposed to a high intensity electricfield...when the surface tension of the fluid is balanced by the applied electric field - known as the Rayleigh limit - a jet of fluid is emitted. The surface charges on this fluids result in a plurality of droplets which undergo “Coulomb Explosion”, yielding successively smaller droplets until a single charged molecule remains. Appliactions of electrospray include biomedical analysis, deposition, nano propulsion, and production of nano fibers.
